We had a real treat on Sunday as Adeola, our newly licensed lay reader, showed us the importance of holding onto Christ in our everyday lives. She used the example of the Transfiguration, where the disciplines James, John and Peter see a glimspse of Jesus' glory on a mountaintop. Many of us have had moments like this, where God's glory is revealed to us and we feel like we are on top of the world. But like the disciples we cannot live on the mountaintop; we have to come down into our everyday lives and work out God's will in the world.
Many thanks again to everyone who helped make night shelter such a successful. It was a real privilege to serve again this year, and I hope everyone involved enjoyed it.
A reminder that our new priest, Rev. Alison, is being welcomed to St. George's on Sunday (18th). The service starts at 10.30am as normal, but please do arrive early to welcome all our guests. A lunch will be served after the service.
