Many thanks to the Rev. David for visiting us on Sunday to preach and celebrate Eucharist. His sermon message was an important one, and I'm sure we've all been trying to live it out this week.
David explained to us Jesus' parable of the wicked tenants (Matthew 21), where the people renting the vineyard kill the son of the owner. We are like the wicked tenants, looking after our own interests and not recognizing the authority of the overall owner (God) or his son (Jesus). Instead of turning in on ourselves, caring only about ourselves (which is sin), we should open wide our arms to the world as Jesus did on the cross.
Many thanks to those working with our children and young people during the service, it's such a wonderful and important job!
This Sunday (15 October) is our harvest service, so do please bring non-perisherables to donate to the food bank.
Finally, don't forget the Harvest Supper at our sister church of St. Paul and St. Silas in Lozells. It is at 6.30pm on Saturday (14th Oct). Tickets are £5 for adults and £2.50 for children. Hope to see you all there!
